This tool allows you to enter a Dell serial number/ppid and find out useful information. It allows you to get the age of the part, the Dell part number & origin of manufacturer.
You can either input a serial number/ppid manually, or import them from a text file which will be read line by line.

What is the PPID number?
PPID (Piece Part Identification) numbers are affixed to specific Dell parts as a means to identify and or track individual components. Dell PPID numbers can be utilized to determine the age and the part number of a particular part if that part may require warranty service by technical support. PPID numbers contain not only the manufacturing date of a component, but also information regarding where it was manufactured, and the Dell part number.
Each PPID label is unique and composed by 20 digits.

Understanding a PPID number
Every Dell PPID number contains five separate sets of information for a total of 20-digits.
- Country of Origin (underlined blue in Figure 1)
- Dell Five-Digit Part Number (the first character is a filler number since all Dell part numbers are five digits, underlined green in Figure 1)
- Manufacture Identification
- Date Code (Year, Month, Date) (underlined red in Figure 1)
- Alphanumeric Manufacture Sequence Identification Number
How to find a PPID number?
PPID are affixed to Dell parts. Try to localize a sticker and a 20 digit code. The digit can be displayed in one row or separated with spaces or dashes.The picture below in an example of a PPID that can be found on all Dell parts:
